PRESSURE (12A) 100 mins Director: Anthony Maras Starring: Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Damian Lewis, Chris Messina Synopsis: In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, PRESSURE follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice--launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether. Awards: Reviews: "It’s a slick presentation and earnestly performed, with an important story to tell." *** GUARDIAN "Here, surprisingly, there’s fun to be had from unexpected places, specifically from the quietly charged relationship between Fraser’s brittle Eisenhower and his Irish private secretary and confidante Kay Summersby" *** THE TIMES "Led by a stellar Andrew Scott, Pressure is a conventional but compelling look at a little-known vignette from the theatre of World War II. Small, smart and perfectly formed." **** EMPIRE MAGAZINE "It is conventionally built, with handsome period costumes and locations (the Allies’ base of operations is at the Downton-esque Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire) and the obligatory deployment of Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel at a pivotal moment." **** DAILY TELEGRAPH |
