EPiC - ELVIS PRESLEY in CONCERT (12)
96 mins
Director: Baz Luhrmann
Starring: Elvis Presley, James Burton, Glenn D. Hardin
Synopsis:
Visionary director Baz Luhrmann has described the EPiC project as neither fully a documentary nor a concert film but "something new in the Elvis canon... that befits the magnitude of Elvis as a performer but also offers deeper revelations of his humanity and inner life." It draws on 68 boxes of unseen film footage discovered in the archives of Warner Bros in salt mines in Kansas, which was restored over two years and synced to existing audio tracks of Elvis' concerts. The film includes a 45 minute recording of Presley taking about his career.
This film was first screened on 8 January 2025 at Graceland on the 91st anniversary of Elvis' birth.

Reviews:
"The footage is beautifully restored and artfully re-edited, with shots allowed to linger with almost obsessive, erotic attention on their subject. Elvis himself does the rest." **** DAILY TELEGRAPH
"The sound is as vivid as the visuals and Presley’s stagecraft radiates confidence, honed by a schedule that sometimes involved three shows a day." **** TIMES
"The offstage elements may slightly underwhelm, but Luhrmann’s kaleidoscopic exploration of Elvis’ Vegas residency is one of the most thrilling musical experiences you can have at a cinema." **** EMPIRE MAGAZINE
"The sheer scale of the Presley charisma is still ridiculous. But you also see the precision skill with which a great bandleader worked the crowd and his musicians." **** SPECTATOR
