- In this season we will be showing a short film (usually about 10 mins) ahead of some of the features.
- On Tuesday 13 June, our feature Wetherby will be preceded at 7.15pm by a talk on "Music from the Movies" by Mark Chivers. Haddenham resident Mark is a professional viola player who specialises in creating music soundtracks for the cinema. His talk will be followed three days later on Friday 16 June by a concert in Haddenham Village Hall at which Masquerade, his string quartet, will play Music from the Movies.
- At the start of the Summer holidays, Haddenham Screen will be showing Swallows and Amazons (PG) on Tuesday 25 July at 6.00 for 6.30pm - a holiday treat for ALL the family
Tuesday 13 June 2017
A lonely Yorkshire shoolteacher, Jean Travers (Vanessa Redgrave, hosts a dinner party for her friendsat her cottage in Wetherby. A stranger, John Morgan (Tim McInnerny), arrives at the party with Marcia and Stanly Pilborough (Judi Dench and Ian Holm). Unexpectedly he returns the next day and suddenly commits suicide in front of Jean. A policeman arrives to investigate the mysterious death, while Jean's mind turns back to memories of a passionate love affair with tragic consequences earlier in her life.
In a novel and intriguing approach to storytelling, director David Hare (screenwriter of The Reader and The Hours) has created an engaging mystery and human drama that ostensibly focuses on an innocent dinner party, but is really about something else.
